This is a collection of bedtime stories, written and told by me to my little girl.

The Mouse And The Elephant

There once was an elephant that lived in the circus. He lived with a lot
of other elephants. They worked hard but had a lot of fun too. One day the
elephant overheard some mice picking on a little mouse. The big mice were
telling the little mouse that he was too little to play with them. They
also told him that he was never going to grow up and be big. The little
mouse ran away crying. The elephant didn't want to see the mouse cry. He
followed the mouse and found him hiding behind a small box.

The elephant said, "Hey little fella, what's wrong," even though he
already knew why the mouse was crying.

The mouse looked up and replied, "All of my friends say that I'm too
little to do anything." The little mouse was still crying.

The elephant wanted to make the little mouse feel better, but he didn't
know how. He said, "It doesn't sound like they are very good friends if
they are making fun of you."

The mouse went on to say, "They say that I'm not big enough to do
anything. That I'm always going to be little, and that no one will ever
want to play with me."

It hurt the elephant's feelings to see the little mouse in so much pain.
The elephant said, "You're not too little to be my friend," with a smile.

The little mouse looked up at the elephant and asked, "You would really
be friends with me? Even though I'm so little."

The elephant said, "Your size has nothing to do with how big your heart
is. I do have an idea that would help the other mice look at you in a new
light though." The elephant told the little mouse his plan and they agreed
that it was a good idea.

The next morning when the mice came out they were making fun of the
little mouse again. The little mouse said, "I'm tired of all of you making
fun of me all the time. I'll show you how big I am." Then he stormed off
towards his new elephant friend. This was all part of the elephant's plan.
Little mouse went up to the elephant and squeaked as loud as he could.

The elephant knew what the mouse was going to do and he played his part
perfectly. The elephant looked down at the little mouse and he too screamed
as loud as he could. When the elephant screamed all of the other elephants
screamed too. The elephant had told the other elephants about the little
mouse and how he was going to help his new little friend. The other
elephants were more then happy to play along to help the little mouse. All
of the elephants ran away from the little mouse. When all of the elephants
started running it scared the other circus animals. Before the mice knew it
the entire circus was in an uproar.

The little mouse went back over to the bigger mice and said, "I caused
all of that commotion because I am a big mouse and I can do big things."
The other mice just stood with their mouths open watching the chaos. After
things calmed down the little mouse went and thanked his new big elephant
friend for helping him. He had proved that he could do big things even
though he was so little. The mouse and the elephant became best friends
after that.

So if you ever see an elephant that's scared of a mouse, it's just doing
the mouse a favor. They are actually friends.

Pink Dolphin And Zebra

There once lived Pink Dolphin and Zebra. They were best friends. They
loved to play together. The only problem was that they didn't live in the
same type of environment. Dolphin lived in the ocean. Zebra lived on land.
Even though there were huge differences in the two friends it didn't stop
them from playing together. They would meet at the beach in the morning.
Then they would splash each other and throw sand at each other. Zebra would
run down the sandy beach and Dolphin would swim through the water. Zebra
would climb out onto the rocks and Dolphin would jump into the air and
splash Zebra. They loved spending time playing together. It was so much
fun.

Then one day a big storm came. It twirled the water around and pushed
Dolphin way out into the ocean. She was nowhere near the land any more. The
storm winds took all of the animals on the land and scattered them a long
way away. Zebra was nowhere near the ocean anymore.

Once the storm was over Dolphin started swimming back towards her beach.
It was a long way. Once the storm was over Zebra started walking back
towards the beach. It was a long way away too. Dolphin swam and Zebra
walked for days and days. It took a long time.

Finally one day Dolphin made it back to the beach. At the same time Zebra
made it back to the beach too. They were very happy to see each other
again. Zebra jumped into the water and gave Dolphin a big hug. Dolphin
hugged Zebra too. Then it was back to the way things had always been. Zebra
ran along the beach while Dolphin swam in the water. It was the best of
times for the two unlikely friends.

Christmas In Da Hood

Twas the night before Christmas, the house smelled of cyder
Not a creature was stirring, not even a spider.

The stockings were hung up high for a week.
So the little big nose'ees could not get a peek.

The children were snuggled all up in their beds,
With momma in blond curls and I in my dreads

When out in the street a car alarm started beeping
Stopping dear mother and myself from sleeping.

I was slightly angered to say the least,
So out of bed came the dreaded daddy beast.

I pulled back the curtains and yelled at the street,
"Shut that thing off, we're trying to sleep".

When, what to my swollen red eyes should I see,
A couple of hoodlums looking back up at me.

If you hear a strange noise that you think is St Nick,
You might think again because thieves are quite slick.

They were dressed head to toe in nothing but black,
On the ground at their feet was a big bulging sack.

Their arms were all filled with gifts an a bow,
All lifted quickly from the neighbors Pinto.

They dropped their gifts and off those two flew,
I knew that my sleep for this night was now through.

The cops showed up asking questions like they do,
Filling the streets with flashing lights red and blue.

I went out to tell my account of the story,
While the officer insisted on trying to bore me.

As I looked back at my house into our window,
I saw three little faces in the Christmasy glow.

Then the cop said to me before he drove out of sight,
"Merry Christmas to you, lock your doors tonight".

The Christmas Bug

There once was a little bug that slept almost the entire year. He would
only wake up when the weather started getting cold outside. When he would
wake up he would be very very hungry. The only thing that he would eat was
grumpiness. He loved to eat up all the grumpiness that he could find. When
he would find someone that was grumpy he would bite them and eat up all of
their grumpiness. After he ate all of their grumpiness they would be happy.
They wouldn't have any grumpiness left in them at all. He would travel
around all winter long looking for the grumps so he could eat them all up.
Whenever he would get done with a town everyone would be happy. They would
sing in the streets and buy presents for each other. Everyone would always
talk about being bitten by the Christmas bug, but none of them had ever
actually seen him. He was very little and very sneaky. Once he had gone
around the entire world he would be stuffed full of grumpiness. Then it was
time for him to hibernate. He would find a nice little place to sleep. He
would sleep almost the entire year. When he would wake up the grumps would
be back and it would be time to start eating again. Year after year
everyone counted on the Christmas bug to get rid of the grumps. Year after
year he did.

Bumbly The Bee

One uponce a time there was a bee named Bumbly. He was always playing
tricks on the other bees. Sometimes he would jump out and scare them when
they weren't expecting it. Other times he would sneak up and give them a
little sting when they were carrying something, making them drop whatever
it was. He would always laugh and fly away before the other bees could
retaliate. This had gone on for quite some time. The other bees decided one
day that they had had enough of Bumbly's tricks and pranks. They thought
that it was time to give Bumbly a dose of his own medicine. They waited
until it was night time and they sneaked into his room. They waited for him
to come to bed. When he finally came into his room they all yelled very
loudly. It startled Bumbly something terrible. Then some of the bees gave
him a quick little sting while he was still in shock. Bumbly started
crying. It hurt when the other bees stung him. It wasn't fun when they
scared him and started laughing either. Now Bumbly knew what it was like
for the other bees that he played pranks on. It wasn't fun at all. He
thought it was funny when he did it to the other bees. He never stopped to
think what it was like for them. It wasn't funny when they did it to him
though. After that day Bumbly decided not to play practical jokes on the
other bees. He learned to think about how someone else felt and not just
himself. All it took was being completely humiliated and a few well placed
stings. But he got the point.

Bart The What?

There once lived a little bug named Bart. He lived in a small hole in an
old tree. There were several other bugs that he was friends with. Martha
the moth lived right above him. Sammy the slug lived down below him. Then
there was Rollanda the rolly polly that lived in the hole beside him.

One day Bart started thinking about what kind of bug he was. He knew what
all of his friends were, but he had no idea what kind he was. He decided to
ask his bug friends if they knew what he was. He poked his head outside and
saw Martha the moth flying beside his door. He asked Martha, "Do you know
what kind of bug I am?"

Martha replied, "Well, you have a lot of legs. You are probably a centipede
or something."

That sounded good to Bart. He still wanted to know what his other friends
thought.

Next he ran into Sammy the slug. He asked Sammy, "Do you know what kind of
bug I am?"

Sammy replied, "Well, you have a hard shell. You are probably a snail."

That made since too. Now Bart was confused. Martha thought he was a
centipede and Sammy thought that he was a snail.

Bart decided to ask Rollanda the rolly polly. He went next door and asked,
"Do you know what kind of bug I am?"

Rollanda replied, "Well, you have little antennas. You are probably a
cricket."

Bart didn't know what he was. He thought about what all of his friends had
said. Was he a centipede, or a snail, or a cricket? He had no idea. He
finally came to the conclusion that he was fine just being Bart the bug.

I Want To Hug A Bug

Do you ever want to hug a bug?
Just wrap your arms around a slug

Don't think because they're small you can't
Go find yourself a little ant

Hug it in a real tight grip
Make sure that it will not slip

I hug ticks and I hug frees
I hug flies but not their babies

A grasshopper on a branch
I hug them when I get the chance

I hug a grub and an earthworm
When I do they always squirm

When I see a caterpillar I try
To hug it before it learns to fly

I hug ladybugs and when I'm through
I hug boy ladybugs too

When it comes to beetles there are so many
I hug and hug and hug them plenty

I hugged a roach but not for long
The lights came on and it was gone

Praying mantises always pray
That I will hug all them one day

Crickets love my hugs I know
I hug them tight then let them go

Wasps and bees are flying bugs
I learned real fast they don't like hugs

Hugging some bugs is not much fun
Especially then you get stung

Rolly polly's love my hugs
They are one of my favorite bugs

Spiders are the best you see
When i hug them, they hug me

I think that's all the bugs I've hugged
Just so they know that they're loved

Party In Bugville

One day in bugville there was going to be a big party. All of the bugs were
excited. There was going to be a lot of fun things to do. There were games
and junk foods. Games like "Roll The Polly" and "The Grass Hopper Bounce.
There was going to be butterfly flying and spin the beetle.

Then right as the party was starting it started raining. All of the bugs
had to go back inside their tree. They were all very upset. They didn't
want to miss the party. All of the bugs were moping around with sad faces.

Then one itsy bitsy bug suggested that they just have the party inside
their tree. All of the bugs thought it was a good idea. They started
playing all the games that they were planning on playing outside. Everyone
was laughing and having a real big time. They ate junk food and partied all
day long. Even though it was raining outside it didn't stop the party. All
because of one itsy bitsy bug.

The Golden Duck

One uponce a time there was a little yellow duck. He loved to swim and fish
for food. One day while he was swimming he noticed something shiny in the
bottom of the lake. He decided to swim down and see what it was. He had
never swam down to the bottom of the lake before. He dove into the water
but only made it about halfway down before he had to return to the surface
for air. Once he was back on the surface he looked back down at the shiny
object and tried to figure out how he was going to retrieve it. He thought,
and he thought some more. Then he had an idea. He thought that if he
started with more speed then he would be able to made it to the bottom. He
flew as high as he could, then he dove towards the water. When he hit the
water it made a big splash but only slowed him down slightly. He swam and
swam until he reached the bottom and his shiny reward. He snatched it up in
his beak and swam back toward the surface. When he finally reached the
surface he was tired. He swam over to the edge of the land and rested. Then
he decided to look at what he had recovered from the bottom of the lake. He
placed the item on the ground and was surprised to find that it was a
golden coin. It was worth a lot of money. He thought to himself, "What good
is a gold coin to a duck"? He took the gold coin and dropped it back to the
bottom of the lake. The gold coin sank to the bottom stirring a cloud of
dust when it hit. For a split second under the dust hundreds of shiny coins
could be seen. When the dust settled they were hidden completely. The
little yellow buck swam around on the surface having a fun time fishing for
food. He was completely unaware that he was the richest duck in the whole
wide world.

The Ant Riddle

Queen Yama had a hard decision to make. Another Queen's colony was trying
to move in and force her and her family out. Her colony was a huge and
beautiful place. All of her children worked very hard to build and maintain
the palace where they all lived. Queen Yama didn't want to fight with the
neighboring colony. She also didn't want to let them take her home away.

She decided to call a meeting with the other colony's Queen and discuss the
situation. The counsels were called and the Queens met in a private
chamber. The other Queen introduced herself, "I am Queen Calla. What do
you want to talk to me about"?

Queen Yama said, "You are trying to overthrow my kingdom and I wish you to
stop."

Queen Calla replied "My army is stronger then yours. I will take your land
and you can't do anything about it."

Queen Yama didn't want any of her children to get hurt fighting so she made
a proposal. She said, "I will give you my land with no fight if you can
answer my riddle. If you get it correct we will all leave tonight. If you
get the answer wrong you have to move on and never bother us again."

Queen Calla was a very smart ant and she accepted the challenge thinking
that the land would be hers easily this way.

Queen Yama said, "I know that you are a very powerful Queen. Tell me, what
is both below and above you in your kingdom?"

Queen Calla answered immediately, "I am the Queen. Everyone is below me and
there is nothing that is above me." She smiled thinking that Queen Yama's
land was now hers.

Queen Yama smiled too. Then she said, "In your kingdom there is something
that is both above and below you. The correct answer is Dirt."

Queen Calla was mad that she had gotten the answer wrong. She honored their
challenge and left though, never bothering Queen Yama again.

Queen Yama knew that Queen Calla would answer the way she did. Queen Calla
couldn't see the kingdoms or her own power for what it was. Queen Yama was
happy that she had saved her kingdom without violence. That's what makes a
true Queen.

A Snake For A Friend

There once was a silly little snake named Strike. He always liked to go
down to the barn and play with the mice. The mice wouldn't play with any of
the other snakes. Only strike could play with them. Strike loved playing
with the mice. He thought that the mice were more fun to play with then the
other snakes.

One day Strike got very very hungry while he was playing with the mice. He
decided to eat just one little mouse. All of the other mice never thought
that Strike would eat any of them. They asked Strike why he ate one of his
friends.

Strike replied, "Because I'm a snake. Just because we play together it
doesn't mean that I'm not a snake. Snakes eat mice, that's what we do."

The mice knew that Strike was a good snake, but he was still a snake. They
asked if he would please not eat any more of them.

Strike could see that it bothered his hairy little friends. He added, "I
have never asked any of you to not be mice. That's who you are. I thought
that a true friend would accept someone for who they were, no matter what.
I will, however try to not eat any more of you.

The mice knew that it was true. He had never asked them to change, so it
was rude for them to ask him to change. He was still their friend. After
that incident the mice tried to only play with Strike when he had already
eaten and was full.

Every once in a while though a mouse would come up missing. When they would
look at Strike he would just smile real big and say "Sorry!" They would all
laugh and continue playing. It's a good thing that mice reproduce as
quickly as they do they all thought, including Strike.

He slithered and wrapped and gobbled no waist

One rodent, two rodent, three and then four
He chomped and swallowed and searched for more

Smelly and greasy and so nicely fat

Sammy slithered and wiggled so slippery fast
Then gobbled and swallowed and was full at last

loud too. All of the baby ants loved her. She would play with them and get

The Pirate Puppy

The moon was full and there was a sweet sent in the air. The crisp cool
breeze filled the sails and pushed the small ship forward. The ship was
small, only big enough for one puppy. That's exactly how Sledger liked it.
Just him and his ship and the ocean as far as the eye could see.

Sledger wished that he could take the time to enjoy this night but he was
on a mission. He had been promised a treasure chest full of milk bones to
rid a nearby port city of the dreaded sea flea pirates. He had seen their
sails a few hours ago and now he was in hot pursuit. In that short time he
had gained on them quite a bit. He could see that even though their ship
was a lot smaller it was full of pirate fleas. Sea flea pirates were very
dangerous. They would attack anyone and they always attacked in large
numbers.

Sledger wasn't scared though. He pushed forward gaining on them even more.
One of the pirate fleas finally spotted Sledger and the entire ship went
into an uproar. They knew who Sledger was, he was the bravest pirate
around. The sea fleas knew that they couldn't outrun Sledger's ship so they
turned and prepared for the fight.

Sledger pulled his ship up beside the sea flea pirate ship. There were
hundreds of them against one pirate puppy. The sea flea pirates jumped onto
Sledger's ship with their swords in hand. Sledger drew his own sword and
fought back. All that could be heard was the clanking of sword against
sword. They came at Sledger from every direction. They were fast, but
Sledger was faster. He swatted at them with his tail. He nipped at them
with his sharp teeth. They kept coming and Sledger kept knocking them into
the water. One by one he sent them flying off into the cold waters that he
called home. In no time Sledger had beaten all of the sea flea pirates. He
looked at all of them in the water and warned them that if they ever
returned he would not be such a nice puppy next time.

When Sledger returned to the port city everyone cheered. They gave him the
treasure chest full of milk bones just like they had promised. Then he was
off again. Just Sledger the pirate puppy and his trusted ship.

The Kitty Cat And The Caterpillar

The kitty cat was sneaking through the tall grass in the yard. A bird had
just landed and the kitty cat was planning on making a quick meal out of
it. The kitty cat crept closer and closer until finally she jumped towards
the bird. At the last possible second the bird saw the kitty cat and flew
away as fast as it could. The kitty cat landed where the bird had just been
a little too late. The kitty cat hung her head and started to walk away.

Just then a small voice said, "Thank you for saving my life kitty cat".

The kitty cat looked and saw a small little caterpillar. She was confused
by the caterpillars words. She said "I didn't save your life little bug. I
missed my meal" looking up at the sky to where the bird had flown away.

"No!" replied the caterpillar "That bird was about to eat me and you chased
it away. Thank you so much. I will one day return the favor".

The kitty cat laughed at the silly caterpillar. She said "Dear little bug,
you are much too small to perform such a feat". Then the kitty cat turned
and walked away, still laughing at the absurd little bug.

The season changed and so did the little caterpillar. What was once a plump
green caterpillar was now an elegant butterfly. The kitty cat had long
since forgotten about the caterpillar's promise. The caterpillar that was
now a butterfly had not. The butterfly saw the kitty cat walking in the
yard one afternoon. She also saw a big mean looking bull dog sneaking up
behind the kitty cat. This was the butterfly's chance to make good on her
promise. As fast as she could fly the butterfly dove down towards the
kitty cat. She had to warn the kitty cat about the bull dog. She flapped
her wings as hard as she could. When she was close enough to the kitty cat
she yelled "There's a bull dog behind you. RUN!"

The kitty cat looked up at the butterfly for a split second. She thought
that she recognized the butterfly but couldn't place her. Then she saw the
bull dog that was just about to get her. She ran and climbed the closest
tree as quickly as she could.

The bull dog chased the kitty cat but wasn't able to catch her.

The kitty cat was safe in the tree now. Then it hit her. She did recognize
the butterfly. It was the caterpillar that she had saved so long ago. The
kitty cat realized that just because someone is small it didn't mean that
they couldn't do great things. That little caterpillar had saved the kitty
cats life, just like she said that she would.

The Smelly Cat

There once was a cat that smelled very bad.
She knew she smelled bad and it made her so sad.
The smelly, sad cat washed all her feet.
The smelly, sad, wet footed cat would not eat.
Smelly, sad, wet footed, hungry cat cried.
Because wherever she went it smelled like something had died.

Along came a cat that smelled really nice.
This nice smelling cat gave the other advice.
The nice smelling, advisory cat had a smile.
That was the nice smelling, advice giving, smiling cats style.
Nice smelling, advisory, smiling, styled cat too
A long time ago use to also smell like poo

First things first you should start with a wash
The old smelly, newly washed cat dried with a cloth
The washed and dry cat then brushed her hair
The washed, dried, brusher haired cat looked rather fair
Washed, dried, brushed hair, fair looking cat knew
That now she was a good smelling cat too

Puppy Chase

One day a little puppy was bored with nothing to do. He was just laying
around trying to think of something fun.

A bird landed on the ground beside the puppy and it startled him. The
puppy let out a small bark. When he barked it in turn startled the bird and
the bird started to fly away. Looking for anything to do the puppy started
chasing the bird. The bird flew this way and that. It flew around trees and
parked cars. The puppy followed right behind barking the entire time.

While the puppy was chasing the bird he saw a cat walking through a yard.
The cat looked up and their eyes met. The puppy had already forgotten about
the bird. The puppy and the cat both knew that the race was on. The cat
darted off in the other direction with the puppy hot on its heels. The cat
scaled a fence but that only slowed the puppy for a second. He easily
crawled under and charged again towards the cat. The cat crossed a street
and quickly climbed a tree. The puppy also ran across the street but he
knew that he would never be able to get to the cat.

When the puppy was crossing the street he heard something honk at him.
Just then an old pickup truck drove by. Off the puppy went trying to catch
the truck. The truck was a lot faster then the puppy but it stopped at
every street. The puppy would get right up to the truck and then it would
take off again. He never could get close enough to bite the tire or
anything. The puppy chased the truck all over the neighborhood never quite
catching up to it all the way. The truck made one last turn onto a busy
street and sped off leaving the puppy far behind. The puppy knew that he
had no chance of catching the truck. So he sat down and waited for
something else to chase.

That's when he noticed that his tail was wagging very fast from side to
side. He decided to teach that tail a lesson. He bit at his tail but it was
fast and moved out of the way. He tried again only to get another mouth
full of air. Before he knew it he was running in circles trying to catch
his own tail. He ran and ran but his tail always stayed just out of reach.
That's how the puppy spent the rest of his day. Chasing his own tail.
Although he never did catch his tail, it never really got away either.

Every day when kitty woke up she was in a good mood.

Puppy would pout and stomp her feet.
Kitty would smile and skip along beside puppy.

If puppy didn't get to do what she wanted to do she would cry about it.
If kitty didn't get to do what she wanted to do she would find something
else to do.

When puppy had to eat something that she didn't like she would make
horrible faces and take a long time to finish it.
When kitty had to eat something that she didn't like she would try not to
think about it and gobble it up quickly to be done fast.

At nap time puppy would throw a fit and cry herself to sleep.
At nap time kitty would think about fun happy things until she fell asleep.

Puppy was sad whenever things didn't go exactly like she wanted them to,
and she let everyone know about it.
Kitty was sad whenever things didn't go exactly like she wanted them to
also, but she didn't let it ruin the rest of her day.

Or,
Do you want to be a smiling kitty that's happy most of the time?

La-fara And The Berry Tree

La-fara was a long-necked giraffe. She loved to eat leaves and berries. She
found a nice berry tree that was just the right height. When she put her
head into the tree she could see a lot of delicious looking berries.

Then she heard a soft little chirping noise. She looked around and saw a
mother bird. The mother bird was hopping from limb to limb picking berries
and then feeding them to her babies. La-fara watched the birds for several
minutes. She was amazed at how hard the mother bird worked to keep her baby
birds full and happy.

La-fara was just about to take a bite of berries when a green spotted
lizard caught her eye. The lizard was racing around the tree branches. It
would run along the tops then circle around to the bottom of a limb without
slowing down at all. There wasn't a part of the tree that the lizard
couldn't navigate with it's sticky little feet. La-fara watched as the
lizard disappeared into a small hole in the tree trunk. Most likely that
was were the lizard lived.

La-fara noticed something buzzing around a small group of rotten berries.
It was a fly. The fly was darting from berry to berry, but only stopping on
the rotten ones. It would land on a berry, take a bite or two, and then
quickly move on to the next one. Back and forth from one side of the tree
to the other and back again. The little fly was fast and tireless in it's
efforts to find the best tasting berry.

La-fara ate some leaves and a few berries. The whole time watching the
mother bird and the fly. She glanced several times to where the lizard had
vanished but never was it again. When she was done she pulled her head out
of the berry tree and slowly walked away. From out here she couldn't even
tell that inside the berry tree was so full of life. She wondered how many
other creatures relied on that single little berry tree for food and
safety. Creatures as big as her and as small as a little bug. What a
wonderful tree that berry tree was. That berry tree gave so much to so many
and asked for nothing in return.

Cow And Hippo

Cow and Hippo were best friends. They had been friends forever. They were
born on the same day so they were the same age. Cow and Hippo had been
friends their entire lives. If Hippo wanted to go swimming then Cow went
too. If cow wanted to stand around mooing then Hippo did too. Swimming and
mooing, mooing and swimming, and they were both as happy as could be.

Then one day Hippo and his family had to move far away. Cow and Hippo were
both very sad. They didn't think that they would ever see each other again
or be able to play together. Cow and Hippo said good-by to each other. Then
Hippo and his family packed up and left.

It was a long summer without Hippo, Cow thought.
It was a long summer without Cow, Hippo thought.

One day Cow's parents told him that they were going to have to move also.
Cow was sad because he thought that if Hippo ever came back Cow wouldn't be
there. Cow was scared to leave. Finally the day came for Cow's family to
move. They packed up and started walking. They walked for a long time. Day
and night they walked. When they finally got to their new home Cow looked
around to see if he could find anyone to be friends with. He knew that
no-one could replace Hippo. He still wanted a friend though. He looked and
looked and that's when he saw Hippo. Cow had moved to the same place Hippo
had moved to. From that day on Cow and Hippo were together all the time.
They were both happy again.

Pretty Pretty Kitty

One uponce a time there was a pretty little cat
She loved to run and play and then take a little nap

Her belly was all white while the rest of her was black
Except a little spot of white in the middle of her back

Her name was Pretty Pretty given to her by a girl
The girl was also pretty and her name was Suzie Curl

Suzie Curl and Pretty Pretty went everywhere together
They played outside all day except in nasty weather

When Suzie Curl would climb into bed and underneath the sheet
She knew that Pretty Pretty would be there at her feet

Pretty Pretty dreamed of Suzie Curl
And that she was a little girl

Suzie Curl dreamed of Pretty Pretty
And that she was a black and white kitty

Love Your Puppy

I will chew on anything I can find
Please don't get mad when I don't mind
I am a puppy and that's what puppies do
Sniff sniff sniff and chew chew chew

I will sometimes have accidents on the floor
Please don't spank me all the way to the door
I am a puppy be patient with me
In time I will learn where to pee

I will run, jump, and bark when I play
Please don't punish me for being this way
I am a puppy and that's how we act
For being like this I shouldn't get whacked

I will occasionally disobey
Please don't think that my loyalty will stray
I am a puppy and the master is you
I will do whatever you want me to do

I will get dirty digging holes in the yard
Please don't do something that will leave me scarred
I am a puppy that plays with the kids too
I'll protect them just like I protect you

I will be impressionable at this age
Please don't respond only with rage
I am a puppy and timid like that
I will always be more faithful then a cat

I will bark all hours of night at nothing
Please don't take your frustrations out on me
I am a puppy but when I am grown
Burglars beware because this is also my home

I will do whatever I can to please you
Please don't forget that you're my family too
I am a puppy and you get what you see
All that I want is for you to love me

The Creature Sisters Take Turns

Inside the clubhouse the two creature sisters sat. They could change into
any animal that they wanted. The only problem was they couldn't decide what
animal. The older sister Starble wanted to be a tiger. The little sister
Swayla wanted to be a puppy. They couldn't decide what animal to pick. So
they just sat there, neither one of them wanting to be what the other one
picked. They were both very hard headed and stubborn. The creature sisters
just sat there staring at each other. They had already wasted all morning.

Then Starble had an idea. They could both be tigers for a little while.
Then they could both be puppies. Swayla liked the idea. So they took turns.
First they played as tigers, then they played as puppies. Whenever they got
tired of what they were playing one of them would pick something new to
play. They took turns. They both got to do what they wanted and they got to
play together. They realized that taking turns was the best way to play.

The Creature Sisters

Hidden in the seven acre woods was a small clubhouse. That's were the two
sister creatures played. These two creatures were magical beings. They
could transform into any animal that they wanted to be just by thinking
about it. Some days they were bears while other days they were mice.

This particular day they were both cats. They left their clubhouse in
search of something fun to do. They were running through the woods when
they heard something chasing them. They looked back and saw a pack of
wolves was right behind them. The creature sisters smiled at each other
because they knew just what to do. They led the wolves to the other side of
the woods. There was an old oak tree there that would be perfect for what
they had planned. Both sisters scurried up the tree and out of sight. The
wolves knew that the cats that they were chasing went up the tree. They
circled the base so there was no way out. The creature sisters needed a
strong tree to hold the weight of what they were about to change into. They
turned themselves into huge lions. Then they raced back down the tree
towards the ground, and the waiting wolves. The two creature sister lions
roared and charged at the wolves. When the wolves realized that lions were
coming down the tree they all tucked their tales and ran as fast as they
could. The creature sisters chased the wolves all the way out of the woods.
They went back to their clubhouse and changed back into their regular
creature forms. They laughed and laughed about the looks on the wolves
faces. It was a fun day of dog chase cat, cat chase dog.

The Blue Monkey Story

Ava quote "It's not a pink monkey it's a blue monkey. Oh, and it's not
green too".

The Blue Monkey crept through the forest. He was very quiet and super fast.
He jumped from treetop to treetop. He was in search of something very
precious and dear to him. He had been looking for his missing item all
morning long, with no luck.

He suddenly heard laughter in the distance. He rushed over to see what was
happening. He approached as quietly as he could. The source of the laughter
was Pink Monkey, just as Blue monkey had suspected. Down below Pink Monkey
was playing with Blue Monkey's ball. She was bouncing his ball and jumping
up and down. He slowly crept down the tree to get a better look. Pink
Monkey was unaware that Blue Monkey had found her.

Blue Monkey worked his was down the tree to it's lowest branch. He climbed
out on the branch that hung directly over Pink Monkey's head. He stopped
when she was underneath his perch. Blue Monkey swung down by his tail, did
a flip in the air, and landed on top of Pink Monkey. He knocked her to the
ground as she was bouncing his ball. Blue Monkey jumped into the air
catching his ball on the way up and landed back in the tree.

Pink Monkey looked up at him in the tree and smiled. "It took you a long
time to find me this time" Pink Monkey said.

Blue Monkey laughed and replied, "Now it's your turn to find the ball. Good
luck!" and he dashed off into the woods to hide.

Pink Monkey started counting, "One banana, two banana, three banana..."

Blue Monkey and Pink Monkey loved playing hide the ball together. It was
their favorite game.

Rolly pollys go and rolly pollys roll
When rolly pollys roll they never roll real slow

A rolling rolly polly can roll so very fast
A polly that is rolling will roll down rolling paths

If a rolly polly's rolling down a rolly polly hill
A rolly polly's rolling will roll into a rolling thrill

Some pollys never roll because they like to go slow
A slowly rolly polly's afraid it will roll into a poll

Never ask a rolly polly if you can roll the polly way
"You can't roll like a polly" is what the rolly pollys say

Rolly Lolly Polly

One uponce a time there was a rolly polly named Lolly. She loved spending
the day with her Pop. One day Pop took Lolly to the zoo. She saw some cute
little flees, flying bees, and a giant grass hopper. It was a lot of fun.
Next they went to the park and ate lunch. Lolly had a grass seed and a drop
of water to drink. When they were done eating they played together on the
dirt slides. When they were rolling down the dirt slides they would get
going pretty fast. Lolly loved fun days like this. Once they were done
playing at the park Pop took Lolly and got her a drop of ice-cream. It was
vanilla, her favorite. After such a long and eventful day it was finally
time to go home. Lolly got ready for bed. She climbed into her bed while
Pop told her a bedtime story. It was about a grasshopper, like the one that
she had seen at the zoo earlier that day. After the story was over Pop
kissed Lolly and told her good-night. He turned off her lightning bug and
closed the door. Lolly laid in her bed all curled up nice and cozy. She
thought about all the fun things that her and Pop had done that day. They
went to the zoo; ate and played in the park; ate ice-cream; and read a
story. She was happy that she had a Pop like hers.

The Sleepy Rolly Polly Story

One uponce a time there was a cute little rolly polly named Arrollar. He
was a big boy now and he didn't need to take a nap. Taking a nap was for
baby polly's. Instead of taking a nap like he usually did he went outside
to play. He rolled around with the other rolly polly's. They played tag and
ball. Then they played a game of hide and go seek. While Arrollar was
playing hide and go seek he found a super good hiding spot. He was sure
that no one would find him. He crawled into a little hole and waited.

While he was waiting he started getting sleepy. It was because he hadn't
taken his nap. He thought that he would close his eyes for just a second.
As soon as his eyes shut he was asleep.

The other rolly polly's looked and looked but they couldn't find Arrollar
anywhere. They were afraid that something bad might have happened to him.
They all went searching for him.

While they were all gone Arrollar finally woke up. He didn't know how
long he had been asleep but it didn't feel like a long time. He crawled out
of his hiding place only to find that he was all alone. All of the other
rolly polly's were gone. He looked around but he couldn't find them
anywhere. Arrollar started to get scared. He was also worried that
something bad might have happened to all of the other polly's. Arrollar
decided to go looking for the others.

Just as he was about to leave he heard something. It was getting closer
and closer. It was all of the other polly's that had been out looking for
him. They were all happy to finally find Arrollar. He was happy to find
them too. Arrollar decided that if he was sleepy then he was going to go
home and take a nap from now on.

The Midnight Zebra

One uponce a time there was a baby zebra that was born with no stripes.
He wanted stripes like all of the other zebras. He searched everywhere
looking for just one stripe. He looked on his belly, but there where no
stripes. He looked on his legs, still no stripes. He looked at his tail, it
was as black as the rest of him. All of the zebras told him that he was
just a horse. He knew that he was a zebra. He just wanted to look like one
too.

Then when it was really dark one night he woke up. It was midnight and
the moon was full. He didn't know why he woke up but he was sure glad that
he had. He had stripes. He couldn't believe his eyes. When he looked down
at his hair. it was striped just like all of the other zebras. The white
stripes were actually glowing under the light of the moon. He ran and woke
up all of the other zebras to show them his stripes. He was excited that he
now had his stripes. He went back to sleep a very happy zebra.

The next morning when he woke up his stripes were all gone. He was a
black zebra with no stripes again. He didn't understand how he had stripes
last night and not today. He went and asked the other zebras and they
remembered seeing his stripes last night. He started thinking that it might
have something to do with the moon. So that night he stayed up until it was
very late. When the moon started shining so did his stripes. His stripes
could only be seen under the light of the moon. He was a special kind of
zebra. He was a midnight zebra. None of the other zebras ever called him a
horse ever again.

together. They would chase and race each other. They laughed and they were
very happy.

One day the sky looked dark like a big storm was coming. They decided that
they needed to find a safe place to stay the night. They walked for a long
time. At last they came to a big wooden house. A man was just about to
close the doors when he saw the giraffes. They told him that they needed a
safe place to sleep. The man told them that he only had enough room for two
of them inside. One of them was going to have to sleep outside in the rain.
They didn't know what to do. Then one of the little giraffes said that he
would sleep outside so that the other two could stay dry. The two other
giraffes thanked him and said that they would see him in the morning. It
rained very hard all night. The next morning when they woke up the two
giraffes couldn't see land anywhere. It rained so much that the giant house
was floating on the water. It rained a very long time. They missed their
friend and hoped that he was safe. Days and nights were filled with the
sounds of rain and thunder.

Then one day all the rain stopped. The land dried up and the house settled
on top of a huge rock. The old man let the giraffes out. The two of them
looked and looked for a long time. They never did find their friend.

The White Giraffe Story

the others. She was almost all white. She still had spots like the others
but hers were a lot smaller. When she was born her mother said that she
looked like she was covered in snowflakes and that's how she got her name.

One day while Snowflake was out playing she met a little white lion. His
name was Dusty. Neither of them had ever met another white animal before.
They talked and played and became best friends.

They both grew up and drifted apart.

One day Snowflake was with her family and one of them spotted a pride of
lions. The giraffes ran but soon found themselves trapped in a dead-end
bluff. The girl giraffes stayed in a small group while the boy giraffes
protected them. The lions were getting closer. Snowflake looked at the
lions and noticed a white lion leading the pride. She recognized him. It
was Dusty, her childhood friend. She broke free from the giraffes and ran
towards the lions. All of the giraffes yelled for her to stop but she
ignored their pleas. All of the lions roared except one. Dusty was
Snowflake and he charged towards her as fast as he could. All of the
giraffes and lions thought that Dusty was going to attack Snowflake. He ran
towards her and jumped towards her neck. Dusty gave Snowflake the biggest
hug she had ever gotten. It had been a long time since the two friends had
seen each other.

The other animals were all surprised. Snowflake and Dusty explained that
the use to be friends a long time ago. The lions promised not to chase the
giraffes for food any more. They all became friends and played together all
the time.

no matter what might have changed in your lives.

story. He kissed her good-night and then he left the room.

That's when the little girl noticed how dark it was in her room. She heard
a little noise and she didn't know what it was. She started getting a
little scared. Then she remembered that she had a purple butterfly nigh
light. She reached up and turned it on. The night light let out just enough
light that she wasn't scared any more. She snuggled up with her pink teddy
bear. Whenever she heard a little noise that she thought might be something
scary she just turned on her butterfly night light. It made her feel nice
and safe.

Pretty soon she fell fast asleep. The next thing she knew her Mommy was

The Giraffe Story

One uponce a time there was a giraffe named Gracie. She was spotted just
like the other giraffes. She had cute little horns on her head just like
the other giraffes. The only thing that made her different from the other
giraffes was her height. She had short legs and a very short neck. She was
about half as tall as the other giraffes. None of the giraffes made fun of
Gracie for being so short. She still wished that she was a little taller
though, just so she would look like everyone else.

One day all the giraffes were eating leaves in a large group of trees that
they had found. The taller giraffes would break off limbs and pass them
down to Gracie so she could eat with them. Gracie was wondering what it
would be like to be so tall. All of the giraffes had their heads up in the
trees. It must be beautiful up there Gracie thought to herself. She was
upset as she looked around at her surroundings down on the ground.

That's when she noticed a lion creeping close to her group. It was crawling
under the bushes so the giraffes wouldn't see it. Because Gracie was so
short she could see the lion. The other giraffes all had their heads up in
the trees completely unaware. Gracie yelled, "Run! There's a lion." All the
giraffes took off running including Gracie. The lion was fast but too far
away to catch the giraffes.

Once they were safe all the giraffes started thanking Gracie for saving
their lives. If it wasn't for Gracie being so short the lion would have
gotten one of the giraffes for sure. Gracie realized that being different
can sometimes be a good thing.

One Sick Story

Sometimes when you get really sick you wonder why you feel so bad.
This is what's actually happening in the words of dear old dad.

It starts when the Germus Infetator Squirmus slips inside your head.
He scratches your throat with his icky spine groat and turns it a festering
red.

Blisters appear from the front to the rear all along the top of your
tongue.
Inside the blisters live pus coated Sluglisters that ooze down into your
lungs.

Once inside your lungs the Sluglisters have fun by excreting their
mucustorous muck.
The muck multiplies an alarming surprise until it forms a Cloglundering
Guck.

Gucks need fresh air to do their despair so they work their way into your
nose.
They turn clusters of gloop into slimelippery sloop and that's the way that
it grows.

Flemmating Snogbugglers join the Gugticklers and cause your nose to run.
They party and dance and happily prance because that's what they do for
fun.

Your eyes get all puffy from the Lugscrufflys and then they turn red and
get sore.
Then on your eyes forms a crust on the sides from the Crustaceous
Gloraceous Fanore.

Inside your tummy grow Putrid Gasglumys that rumble and grumble and snore.
They grow very fast containing their gas until they explode on the floor.

You cough and you sneeze, spreading decease to all of the people you've
seen.
So cover your mouth if you let out a spout and wash your hands super clean.

I hope you get better soon. Love you Ava.

story and Sparkles wanted to hear two stories, she would cry. It got to the
point that Sparkles was throwing fits and crying about everything. She was
acting like her baby brother Tarantula. Tarantula cried a lot, but he was
still a baby. He couldn't talk yet and he didn't know any better. Sparkles
did know better, she was just being bad.

So Mommy and daddy decided they were not going to put up with it any
longer. If she cried about what they gave her to drink then she got bug
juice. If she cried about taking a bath, then she had to take two baths. If
she cried about how many stories they read to her then she wouldn't get to
hear any stories at all.

This was not fun for Sparkles. She didn't like this one little bit. Sparkles
realized that if she was nice and used her good manners then she would get
to do more fun things. Plus she was happier because she wasn't pouting all
the time. From then on Sparkles only cried if she was hurt. That way Mommy
and daddy would know if something was really wrong. All of the monsters were
a lot happier now that Sparkles was using good manners.

The Bad Hare Day Story

Hoppsy Hare was having a bad day.
First he had lost a race to a slow moving Turtle. He still couldn't figure
out how.
Then some kids had chased him around trying to cut off his foot for good
luck. Hoppsy decided that if he ever found the person that started that
rumor he was going to give them a piece of his mind.
Finally he thought he would spend the rest of the day playing with his
friends. The only problem was none of his friends were home.He went by
Peter Rabbit's house. He went by Peter Cottontail's house. He even went by
Velveteen's house, but none of them were home.
This was a bad day for Hoppsy Hare indeed. He hopped around trying to find
something to do. Everywhere he went people kept saying, "Sorry about the
race Hoppsy". Then they would laugh at him. He just wished everyone would
forget about it.
He decided to go hide in his favorite rabbit hole until it was time for
bed. When he got there he was greeted by his three best friends.
"Where have you been?" Velveteen asked. "Hurry inside, we have a surprise
for you".
Hoppsy hurried inside only to find the Turtle that had beaten him in the
race earlier that day. This was the last person he wanted to see.
Peter R. said, "Tell him" to Turtle.
Turtle looked embarrassed. He finally said, "Well, I kind of cheated in the
race.
"Tell him the rest of it Turtle" Peter C. said.
Turtle told his story. He was still getting made fun of for the other day
when he thought he had lost his shell. Turtle thought that if he could beat
Hoppsy in a race then everyone would stop making fun of him, and start
making fun of Hoppsy. Before the race Turtle had put some sleeping pills in
Hoppsy's carrot juice and the rest of the story Hoppsy already knew. Turtle
asked, "Do you want to race again tomorrow so everyone can see that you are
faster"?
Hoppsy thought about it and then said "No" to everyone's surprise. Hoppsy
actually felt a little sorry for Turtle. He decided that just knowing that
he would have won the race was good enough for him. It didn't matter what
everyone else though, as long as he knew the truth. Hoppsy learned a very important lesson that day, that you
should never trust a Turtle.

Hoppsy Hare's bad day turned out to be a good day after all.

The Donkey Story

One uponce a time there was a little Donkey. He had big floppy ears and a
detachable tail. He kept losing his tail. He looked everywhere for his tail
one day but he couldn't find it anywhere. He decided to ask his friends to
help him look for his tail. All of Donkey's friends went looking for his
tail. At last they found Donkey's tail. They tried to put it back on Donkey
but they didn't know how to make it stick. Then one of the friends but some
bubble gum on Donkey's tail and stuck it to Donkey's bobo. The bubble gum
worked for a little while but not forever. So whenever any of Donkey's
friends would find his tail they would put some bubble gum on it and go pin
it back on Donkey. It became a pretty fun game. All of Donkey's friends
were always looking for his tail. Sometimes they would find it in the
strangest places. Then they would have to go find Donkey. Everyone lived
playing.

The Sheep And Her Friends Story

Sheep was a very happy animal. She had a lot of friends on the farm. They
were like one big happy family.

Then one day the farmer took sheep away. He gave her a funny looking hair
cut. In fact, he cut all of her beautiful curly hair off completely. Sheep
loved her hair and she felt strange without it. She knew that the other
animals would make fun of her because she looked so funny now. When the
farmer took her back to her stall she hurriedly scurried inside before
anyone could see her. It wasn't too long before Horse and Goat came looking
for her. "Hey Sheep, are you in there?" Horse asked.

She replied "Yes. I'm in here. I don't feel so good though. I think I'm
going to sleep a little while longer."

"Okay", said Horse, "I hope you get to feeling better. We'll see you soon".

It was true. They were all going to see her at some point. It was also
true that Sheep didn't feel good. She wasn't physically sick but she didn't
feel good about herself at all.

It wasn't long before Duck and Cow came looking for he too. Then Mouse.
Then Pig and his little spider friend. Sheep gave the same excuse every
time. She felt bad about telling all the animals that she needed more sleep
when it was really that she didn't want them to see her.

Finally Sheep decided that she was going to have to be a big girl and face
the animals at some point. It might as well be now. She took a deep breath
and walked out into the barnyard.

As soon as Goose saw Sheep she yelled, "Hello Sheep. Are you feeling
better"? All of the animals came running over to her. They were all looking
at her.

Nervously she said, "I guess I'm feeling a little better".

Horse said "We were all so very worried about you".

"You were?" Sheep asked.

"Oh yeah" replied Mouse "We are so glad that you feel better".

Sheep noticed that none of them had mentioned her bad hair cut. She decided
to confess. She said "Well I was really just embarrassed for everyone to
see me with all my hair cut off".

Cow said, "We don't care what you look like Sheep. We all love you for who
you are, not how you look."

"You will always be beautiful to us Sheep" Pig added.

This made Sheep feel a lot better. She realized that family loves you for
who you are no matter what. They all spent the rest of the day playing
together. It was just like it had always been, but a little colder.

The Mad Monster Story

Zodiac was a very mad monster. He opened his mouth big and roared as loud
as he could. Someone had taken his blue toy truck and he wanted it back
right now. He didn't know who it was but he had a good idea.

He stormed up to his brother Rinker and said, "You took my blue truck and I
want it back right now" then he roared again.

Rinker just laughed and said, "I don't have your blue truck. See, all I
have is my red truck".

Zodiac was now madder then before. He started kicking things and yelling as
loud as he could.

All of the commotion drew the attention of Mommy monster. She came into the
room and saw little Zodiac destroying the place. She calmly went over to
Zodiac and asked him what was wrong.

He tried to tell his Mommy that he couldn't find his blue truck. He was so
mad that it all came out in growls and snarls though.

Mommy monster said, "I can't understand anything that you are saying. You
need to go sit in time out until you can calm down."

This made Zodiac even madder then before. He went to the corner and sat
down as hard as he could. He held his breath until his face turned red. He
growled and grumbled some more. Not loud enough for Mommy to hear though.
He was mad and he wasn't going to get unmad any time soon. So he sat, and
he sat, and he sat. While he sat there he thought about what had happened.
He wanted his blue truck but he knew that he shouldn't have acted like he
did. He might have overreacted just a little. As he sat there he began to
calm down. He didn't know how long he had sat there but he was sure it was
about three years. He was now calm and could talk without growling.

Mommy monster came back and asked, "Are you ready to talk to me"?

Zodiac nodded his head yes. He was a little ashamed of how he had acted. He
told his Mommy that someone had taken his blue truck. Mommy said, "First I
think that you need to go tell your brother that you're sorry".

Zodiac went over to Rinker and said, "You're sorry". He turned and looked
at Mommy. She was not amused. He turned back to Rinker and corrected, "I
mean I'm sorry. I shouldn't have acted like that."

Then Zodiac turned and walked back to his Mommy. She said, "Now that you
are calm I will help you look for it". Where was the last place that you
saw it"?

Zodiac thought and said, "In my bed". They walked over there together.
There it was, safe and sound in his bed. Zodiac told his Mommy that he was
sorry and gave her a kiss. Zodiac was going to try to control his temper
from now on.

The Monster Story

One uponce a time there was a big hairy monster named Grumpo Grumon.
Everyone was scared of Grumpo. He was always mad and if anyone tried to
talk to him he would yell and scream at them. Everyone tried to stay out of
his way.

Until one day when little Nicie Wicie saw Grumpo grumbling along. She was
the cutest little bitty monster, probably the smallest in all of Monsterton
City. Nicie decided to go cheer up Grumpo. She walked over to him and said,
"Good morning. My name is Nicie. What is your name"?

All of the monsters that were close by stopped to watch Grumpo's reaction.

As usual, he started yelling. "Leave me alone!! I don't want to talk to anyone."

Nicie started crying and ran away. The next day Nicie saw Grumpo standing
in the same spot. She walked up to him, but this time she didn't say
anything. She just stood there in silence. When Grumpo finally looked down
at her she handed him a cup with something in it. He took the cup and
looked at it for a long time.

All of the monsters were watching to see what Grumpo would do.

After looking at the cup for a long time Grumpo decided to go ahead and
drink it.

Like magic as soon as Grumpo drank what was in the cup he started feeling
happier. He also started shrinking. He was getting smaller and smaller.

The other monsters watched in amazement.

He shrunk until he was the same size as Nicie. He didn't know what was in
the cup but Grumpo felt happy. He also wanted to play. Grumpo and Nicie
spent the rest of the day playing together and with the other monsters. The
next morning though, the old Grumpo was back. Big and mean and cranky as
ever. That is until Nicie was able to give him her magic drink. Grumpo
drank the gift and turned into a playful happy monster.

This was the way it was from then on. Grumpo would wake up grouchy. He
would drink the magic drink that Nicie would bring him. Then he was nice
and happy for the whole day.

One day another monster asked Nicie what was in the cup. She replied,
"Coffee. What, you don't think this is what I look like first thing in the
morning, do you?""

The New Dr. Story

Dr. New was busy. He was helping people that were sick get better. He
always had time for his favorite little patient though. Hannah had gone to
see Dr. New and it was a fun trip. She wasn't scared of the doctor any
more. Now she was back but she had brought her cat Snuffles with
her.Snuffles had been moaning all day and Hannah was worried about her. Dr.
New came in to see Hannah. She asked if he could make het cat feel better.
Dr. New wasn't a veterinarian. A veterinarian is a doctor that sees animals
instead of people. Little Hannah's face looked so worried that Dr. New
decided to at least look at Snuffles and see what might be wrong. She told
Dr. New that Snuffles had been moaning all day like she was in pain. The
doctor felt around on Snuffles tummy. Sure enough she started moaning just
like Hannah had said. Dr. New told Hannah that Snuffles was pregnant and
was about to have kittens. Hannah was excited. Just then Snuffles let out a
loud meow and out came a little kitten. Then she did it again and another
kitten emerged. By the time Snuffles was done she had given birth to five
little kittens. Hannah thanked Dr. New and then hurried home to show her
Mommy and daddy. Hannah had gone to the doctor with a sick cat, she
thought, and had come home with a happy cat and five healthy kittens. What
a wonderful visit to the doctor.

The Dr. Story

There once was a doctor named New. He took care of all the little boys and
girls. He would look at them when they were sick and give them medicine to
help them get better.

One day there was a little girl named Hannah that needed to go see Dr. New.
She didn't know what to expect so she was a little scared. Her Mommy and
daddy told her that it was going to be okay. She was still scared though.

There were a lot of children waiting to see the doctor. Some of them looked
sick, some of them looked fine. Her Mommy told her that you can't always
tell if someone is sick by looking at them.

The nurse came into the waiting room and called for Hannah to come back. It
was time for her to see the doctor. Her Mommy and daddy went with her. They
went into another room to wait a little longer. Hannah was still worried
about seeing Dr. New.

Then the door opened and in came Dr. New. He was really tall, like a
basketball player. He sat down and started talking to Hannah. He asked her
some questions about her favorite food and what kind of games she liked to
play. He looked in her ears. He looked in her mouth. He looked at her eyes.
He picked her up and spun her around. He tickled her tummy. Then he gave
them a prescription for some medicine and said good-by.

Hannah was done. She had been scared for nothing. The doctor visit was over
and Hannah wasn't scared of the doctor any more.

Her daddy said that the most painful part of the doctor visit was the bill,
but that was just silly. Paying a bill doesn't hurt.

little bitty. Finally there was a monkey. The leopard and the cat couldn't
understand anything that the monkey said, but he was cute so they didn't
mind.
One night when the moon was full and the air was cool the three animals
were hungry. Even the leopard was hungry and she didn't eat very often. The
monkey was always hungry. He ate all the time.
They decided to go out and find some food. They didn't know where to look
so they went to the neighbors house. They rang the doorbell. When he
answered the door they asked "Do you know where we can get some food"?
He said "Hold on just one second" and walked back into his house. When he
returned he handed each of the three animals a bag with two pieces of candy
in it.
They thanked him and then each gobbled one of the pieces of candy up. They
left one in their bags.
Then they went to the next house and the same thing happened. They kept
doing this until it was really late. By the end of the night they all had a
bag full of candy, and their tummy's were full too. They went back home and
had enough candy to last for the rest of the year.

The Shark Story

Ty was a big shark. He was bigger then most of the fish in the ocean. He
was dark grey on his back and white on his under side. He had really sharp
teeth and he looked very scary. Ty was actually a really nice shark. He
wasn't like the other sharks. It didn't really matter though. When ever a
fish saw Ty they always swam away. No one would ever give him a chance.
That was fine with Ty, he didn't mind being alone. It gave him time to
think.

One day while he was out swimming he had gotten a fisherman's hook caught
in his mouth. It hurt real bad and there was nothing that he could do about
it. He thought that if he could talk to a small fish, and not scare it
away, then the fish might be able to get the hook out for him. The only
problem with this plan was, whenever he saw a fish it would always swim
away from him. Usually as fast as it could. Then if he did talk to one how
was he going to convince a fish to swim into his mouth.

He headed out into the open waters hoping that he might find a nice
understanding fish to help him. As usual, as soon as the first fish saw him
it yelled, "SHARK" and all the other fish scattered.

His mouth was hurting really bad. Ty swam around for a long time hoping
that some fish would come back.

Then he saw a little sea horse swimming all by itself. Ty swam up behind
the sea horse. He started to ask the little sea horse for help but then he
heard the sea horse was crying. Ty shut his mouth and thought about what to
say. This poor little guy was sad and Ty was scared that if he spoke to the
sea horse that he would just scare the little guy.

Then he decided that he would at least try to be a good friend and find out
what was wrong. As soon as he opened his mouth to speak again something hit
him from the side. It was an octopus. She wrapped her legs around Ty's
mouth and yelled, "SWIM!! Swim away little fella".

Ty then realized what was going on. The octopus thought that he was going
to eat the little sea horse. The octopus was trying to save the little guy.
What a sweet thing to do Ty thought to himself. Ty tried to tell them what
was going on but his mouth was held shut by the octopus. The sea horse
turned and with one look at Ty it swam away as fast as it could. Ty tried
and tried to open his mouth so he could explain the situation. He could
feel the octopus was losing her grip. Then she let go with all of her arms
and kicked him right were the hook was. It hurt so bad that Ty wanted to
cry.

Then he realized that when the octopus had kicked him that the hook had
become dislodged. He felt it loose in his mouth. He spit out the hook and
saw the octopus swimming away. He tried to catch her and thank her, but she
was too fast. He also wanted to tell the little sea horse what was actually
going on. They were both gone though. At least the hook was no longer stuck
in his mouth. Ty just swam away alone. Like he always did.

The Sea Horse Story

There once lived a sea horse named Mar. He was orange with little yellow and brown spots. He was also very little for such a big ocean.

Mar was very excited about today. It was the first day that he was going to get to play with the big sea horses out in the open waters of the ocean. His mom and dad always told him that he was too little to play with the big sea horses. They were worried that he might get hurt. After trying to convince them for weeks they finally said he could go. He was running late and was afraid that the others might have already started playing without him.

He swam out into the open waters but he didn't see the other sea horses. In fact, he didn't see any fish at all. Then he thought that maybe the other sea horses didn't want to play with him. Maybe they told him to come out here but they were going to play somewhere else. Thinking about that made Mar sad and he started to cry. "Why would they not want to play with me?" he thought. He was all alone out in the open waters so he didn't have to worry about anyone seeing him cry.

Mar was so consumed with his thoughts that he didn't notice a big shark was behind him. The shark started to open his mouth.

Then out of nowhere an octopus swam up and wrapped herself around the shark's mouth. She yelled at Mar, "SWIM!! Swim away little fella".

Mar was startled by the yelling. He turned around just long enough to see the octopus fighting with the shark. That was all he needed to see. Mar swam as fast as his little fins would take him. There was some coral close by. He swam towards the safety of it's cover. When he got closer to it he could hear yelling. He looked around and saw the other sea horses. One of them yelled, "In here Mar". He swam into an opening and found all of his friends. They weren't hiding from him, they were hiding from the big shark. Mar felt bad for thinking his friends didn't want to play with him.

They all stayed quiet until the shark was gone. Then all the sea horses started asking things like, "Are you alright?" and "What was it like being that close to a shark?" and "Who was that octopus that saved you?". It was nice to know that his friends did care. Mar only wished that he could thank the octopus that saved him.

The Octopus Story

Deep in the ocean lived an octopus named Opha. She was light blue with a soft pink belly. She had eight arms and was a very fast swimmer.

Opha was swimming along one day and she noticed that the water had gotten very quiet. There where usually fish swimming and talking everywhere. Opha didn't hear anything. She started looking around and noticed that there were no fish in sight. That was strange for such a big ocean.

Then she heard a soft crying. She looked around and noticed a single sea horse. She started swimming over towards him. She was going to ask him why he was crying.

Then she noticed a big dark figure behind him. She knew instantly that it was a shark. Then she realized why the ocean had become so quiet. All the fish were hiding from the shark. They were all scared of the shark. Opha saw the shark heading towards the little sea horse. He was all alone. He didn't hear the shark coming because he was crying.

Opha swam as fast as she could towards the sea horse and shark that was fast approaching. She was getting closer, but so was the shark. She saw the shark start to open his mouth then he closed it. She didn't know why the shark had paused but she was glad he had. He was right behind the sea horse. The sea hoarse never even knew the shark was there. Opha swam even faster. The shark was opening his mouth again.

Before the shark had a chance to open his mouth all the way Opha was there. She wrapped her eight legs around the sharks mouth and pulled it shut. She yelled at the little sea horse, "SWIM!! Swim away little fella". The sea horse turned and saw Opha fighting with the shark. He swam as fast as his little fins would take him. The shark kept trying to open his mouth. He was very strong and Opha couldn't hold on much longer.

As soon as she saw that the sea horse was far enough away and safe she made her own escape. She let go with all of her legs at the same time. Then she kicked as hard as she could with all of her legs right in the side of the sharks mouth. The shark paused for just a second. That was all the time Opha needed. She swam as fast as she could. After a second the shark started chasing her but she was too fast for the shark. She swam away and was safe from the shark in no time. She never saw the little sea horse again but it made her feel good to do something so big for someone else.

The Day Turtle Lost His Shell

There once was a cute little turtle with a very pretty shell. He lived in a
pond under an old oak tree. One morning when he woke up he noticed that his
shell was missing. He had his shell on when he went to bed. He didn't know
what had happened to it.

He asked Mr. Frog, "Have you seen my shell"?

Mr. Frog said, "No, you should ask Mr. Fish. He croaked and jumped along
his way.

Turtle didn't know where to look, so he went and found Mr. Fish. Turtle
said, "Hello Mr. Fish. Have you seen my shell today"?

"No I haven't". said Mr. Fish, You should ask Mr. Snake". Then he swam
away.

Turtle was starting to get sad. He was worried that he might never see his
shell again. Turtle found Mr. Snake and asked him, "Mr. Snake, have you
seen my shell"?

"Sorry Turtle, I haven't seen your shell" replied Mr. Snake. "Have you
asked Mrs. Bird? She might have seen it".

"No I haven't. Thank you anyway Mr. Snake".

Turtle swam over to the old oak tree. Then he started to cry. He knew that
he wasn't going to find his shell.

Then from above Mrs. Bird asked, "Why are you crying Turtle"?

Turtle told her that he lost his shell and couldn't find it anywhere. Mrs.
Bird started laughing. "Why are you laughing at me"? Turtle asked Mrs.
Bird. "Is it because I look funny with no shell"?

Mrs. Bird smiled and said, "No. I'm laughing because your shell is on your
back".

Turtle turned and looked. "I don't see it", he told Mrs. Bird.

Then she asked "Have you ever seen your shell"?

Turtle thought about it. He thought and thought some more, but he didn't
ever remember seeing his shell. "No, I don't think I have" he replied.

Mrs. Bird said, "It's been on your back the whole time. You just can't turn
your head far enough to see it".

Turtle felt silly about the whole thing then. He had made a big deal over
nothing. He thanked Mrs. Bird and swam off to show everyone his pretty
shell.

The doctor told them that she had a very bad kind of sickness. They put her
on medicine that would get rid of the sickness but the medicine made her
feel all tired and weak. She couldn't go outside and play with her friends
any more. She had to stay in bed and rest all day. All of her friends and
family prayed that little Lilly would get better soon. Her parents were
very scared and sad but they never let Lilly know that they felt that way.
They wanted Lilly to think that they were strong so she would be strong
herself. It took a long, long time before Lilly started feeling any better.
Then one day she felt like getting out of bed. It was a big step in her
getting better. Not long after that she wanted to go outside. She was still
too tired to play but she enjoyed watching the other lady bugs play. She
started feeling better and better every day. Lilly's Mommy and daddy took
her back to the doctor. He told them that Lilly had recovered wonderfully
and was all better. That night Lilly got to play with her friends for the
first time in a long time. Her Mommy and daddy were proud of how strong she
had been through the entire ordeal. They were also very thankful of all of
the friends and family support. Most of all they were happy to have their
little Lilly bug back to her old self again.

The New Bed Bug Story

Grumbly and Ritz were a couple of bed bugs. They were best friends.

One morning when they woke up they were down by the giants feet. It was
horribly smelly down there. They decided to make their way up to the giants
head. The smell had to be better then by it's feet. On the way up they
started hearing a roaring noise. When they got to the giants head they
realized that the giant was snoring. That's what the noise was.

Grumbly and Ritz decided to have a little fun. They climbed up onto the
giants face and when the giant breathed out it blew them up into the air.
It was very fun. They did it a lot. It was one of their favorite games.
Then one time while they were waiting to get blown into the air Grumbly
stepped too close to the giant's nose. The giant sneezed. The sneeze blew
them both into the air but also covered both of them with a spray of spit.
It was disgusting. That was the last time they ever played that game.

The Bed Bug Story

There were two little bed bugs that lived on cotton sheets. One bug was
green and hairy and his name was Grumbly. The other bug was yellow with
three eyes and his name was Ritz. They were best friends. They did
everything together. There was a giant that slept in the bed at night.
Every time the giant would move it was like an earthquake for the little
bed bugs. They would fly up into the air and bounce all about. It was very
scary because they never knew where they were going to land. Sometimes they
would land on the other side of the bed. A few times one of them would even
land on the giant. It was also scary because sometimes the giant would
scratch and slap itself while it was asleep.

This particular night was about to change everything forever. The giant
was tossing and turning all night long. Grumbly and Ritz were having a hard
time just staying on the bed. The giant stretched out it's big long leg
and.... it happened.

The giant put it's leg right on top of Ritz. Ritz started screaming for
help. Grumbly tried to lift the giant leg but it was too heavy. Ritz was
being crushed and there was nothing Grumbly could do about it. Ritz kept
yelling "Help me! Help me!". Finally with no other choice available Grumbly
took charge. He did the only thing that he could think of. He opened his
mouth as wide as he could and he bit the giant leg.

In that split second that followed two things happened. One, the giant
lifted its leg freeing Ritz. Two, the giant let out a scream so loud that
it woke up all of the other giants. Bigger giants came thundering into the
room. It took forever for the screaming giant to quieten down.

From that night on when it was time for the giant to sleep one of the
bigger giants would say "Good-night, sleep tight. Don't let the bed bugs
bite".

Grumbly and Ritz would smile at each other. Then Grumbly would say "That's
right, I might. If you attack my buddy Ritz tonight".
